An awesome opportunity to shoot some of the best basketball teams and players in Canada at the 2013 OUA Men’s Basketball Final Four. The event took place at the newly renovated Mattamy Centre (Old Maple Leaf Gardens) the home of the Ryerson University Rams. Unfortunately the Rams lost in the quarter-finals and were forced to be spectators for the event. This certainly lessened the enthusiasm and ticket sales.
Friday evening had the Carleton Ravens taking on the Lakehead Thunderwolves. This was a re-match of the 2011 Finals at McMaster University where Lakehead won their first ever Wilson Cup. This year, Carleton had no trouble and the game was a blow-out.
Game two on Friday was the UOttawa GeeGees taking on the Windsor Lancers. The game was a bit tighter but, ultimately the East division finalist GeeGees were rocking and rolling to victory.
Saturday allowed for more remote camera opportunities. The upload of those are still taking place.
The games were tighter and Lakehead grabbed the bronze medal and a trip to the CIS championships.
In the championship game, Carleton took a large lead into the fourth set and looked to have secured the game. Two Raven forwards fouled out with five minutes left and the GeeGees closed in but were unable to finish.
Of course, you always have to take a photo of yourself when testing out the remote camera.
Thanks for checking out some of my photos from the event. More are still to come.
